Most Rev Gerald Almeida
Most Reverend Gerald Almeida was ordained a priest on Dec. 14, 1974 at St. Peter & Paul’s Cathedral at Jabalpur. In 1984, he was appointed as the Director of Jabalpur Diocesan Social Service Centre at Mandla, as well as the Joint Secretary for the correspondence of Jabalpur Diocesan Education Board. Bishop Gerald has spent 22 years of his priestly ministry in the tribal district of Mandla. He was for three months at St. Margareta Parish at Muenster, Germany in 1992. He was appointed as the Coordinator of the M.P Regional Resource Team for animation, as well as the Director of the new Social Welfare Centre for Shahdol Deanery. He was nominated by the MP Bishops as a member of the Project Selection Committee of Caritas India. Then he was appointed as the Coadjutor Bishop of Jabalpur on June 24, 1997. His Episcopal Ordination as Bishop was held on Sept. 17, 1997. He took charge of the office of the Bishop of Jabalpur on May 16, 2001.
