Dr. Saumya Uma
Dr. Saumya Uma is a law academic, with over 23 years of work experience in advocacy, research, training and law practice in the areas of human rights and gender. She presently teaches at the Jindal Global Law School, O P Jindal Global University, Sonipat. She has previously taught at the School of Law, Governance and Citizenship at the Ambedkar University, New Delhi; the Maharashtra National Law University – Mumbai as well as National Law School of India University, Bengaluru in the capacity of Assistant Professor – Law. Dr. Uma is a former consultant with the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNOHCHR) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).She is an active participant of the women’s movement in India since 1994 and is a life member of the Indian Association for Women’s Studies – a premier registered membership-based organization in the country. She is also a Core Member of Women’s Regional Network – a network of women working beyond the borders of Afghanistan, Pakistan and India. She has written 13 books and over 40 articles on issues pertaining to Gender, Human Rights and Law, some of which have been published by renowned publishers such as the Oxford University Press and Sage Publications.
