Guwahati, Assam: IGSSS organised a two day training workshop for the community leaders and staff members implementing the recently launched – Peace Action Programme in the Conflict Vulnerable areas of Bodo territorial Council and Karbi Anglong, Assam. Key sessions involved identification of significant attributes required to be a peace builder, understanding the need for peace in the context of conflict prone district. The participants were taught how to devise locally adaptable strategies that will encourage constructive change, create platform that will ensure dissemination of positive messages and further the cause of peace promotion.
The other segment of the discussion focused on how women and children are worst affected in any conflict scenario. Yet, it is the resilience of women that stands forth in any difficult situation and they play a very critical role in binding societies and families through the times of crisis. One of the key emphasis of the project is thus on harnessing the potential of women to be peace advocates and build a culture of oneness.
The training was intense and interactive. The methodology was highly appreciated by the participants as it involved combination of both theoretical knowledge sharing, practical demonstration through group exercises and dissemination of information through visual communication tools such as sketches and documentary screening.
