Agriculture Resource Center (ARC), set up by IGSSS with support from HDFC Bank in Barwaha, Khargone, is being developed as a single window for hiring, information dissemination, awareness building and as a consultation center for farmers on agricultural practices.

WomenBarwaha, Madhya Pradesh: Women’s contribution in agriculture is significant to our economy; their technological empowerment is equally important and needs to be given high priority. It is often reported that improved tools, implements and technologies related to agriculture are not adopted by farm families. The underlying reason being the technologies are not in the reach of the target groups. The unavailability of technology in near vicinity, its high cost and lack of knowledge and skills in use of such technology is the major hindrance in adoption.

The establishment of Agriculture Resource Center (ARC) is being taken as a project initiative named as Enabling Access to Social and Economic Resources (EASE) program in 10 villages of Barwaha block of Khargone district with the support of HDFC Bank. The ARC is developed as a single window for hiring, information dissemination, awareness building and as consultation center for farmers on agricultural practices. The services provided by ARC are on minimum charges. The revenue generated from these services would sustain the manpower and functioning of ARC after the completion of the project.

The ARC currently provides the following services:

  • Display and demonstration of appropriate technologies

  • Hiring of women friendly drudgery reducing agriculture equipment

  • Provide regular and relevant real time information related to agriculture

  • Training for the adoption/use of new technology/entrepreneurship and conducting meetings.

  • Information dissemination of various government schemes/distribution of agriculture inputs for First raw demonstrations

  • Skill training program/awareness program for women agricultural farmers on usage, maintenance and importance of simple agricultural tools
