North East, India: An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.9 struck north-western Myanmar on Wednesday.
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) reported strong tremors through Myanmar, eastern India, Bangladesh and parts of Nepal. The 6.9 magnitude quake took place at a depth of 135 km (84 miles) north-west of Mandalay. Earthquake was felt in five countries. There were no immediate reports of major damage or loss of life reported so far. The tremors were also felt in West Bengal and Patna.
Civil defense official, Mr. Ayub Khan, Manipur shared that there are minor damages to the infrastructure in Imphal. There are no causalities reported so far. As per the report from ANI, 7 people hospitalized due to trauma, other 2 admitted to RIMS in Imphal after injuries and 3 admitted to hospital in Siliguri (West Bengal) after sustaining injuries during panic caused when earthquake tremors were felt].
During our interaction with the Kamrup control room, they shared that no causalities have been reported so far except for minor cracks on walls in Kamprup. The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) confirmed no causalities reported in Assam till 10.05 PM.
From the villages where IGSSS intervened during the last earthquake, no damages reported so far as told by the village chief.
