Ganjam, Odisha: Lila sustains her family by working as a daily wage labourer in a nearby factory. She hails from Alipur village and lives with her mother and two children. Thirty Eight year old Lila lost her husband few years back and is the sole earning member of her family. Lila has always been curious about learning new things and this led her to become one of the active members of Water Management Committee. She has now taken upon herself to spread knowledge about good sanitation practices and adequate usage of water amongst her neighbors and as many families she can reach out in her village. Lila was well appreciated for her initiative and one of her neighbor shared that influenced by Lila she has also started participating in the village cleanliness drives.
The SHE project is implemented in three villages i.e. Bergispentha, Alipur and Narayanpur village of Narayanpur Panchayat of Rangeilunda block of Ganjam district of Odisha. The emphasis is on awareness generation on safe drinking water and hygienic practices. This is an IGSSS intervention supported by Charities Aid Foundation (CAF).
