Itanagar, Arunachal: IGSSS under its youth development programme SMILE, conducted career a guidance and counselling session for graduates and for students who have cleared or appeared for class twelve exams. The programme was aimed at creating and enabling individuals acquire the knowledge, skills and experience necessary towards occupational exploration and career planning.
Choosing the field according to one’s interest and capability and then pursuing the same with conviction leads to success shared the resource person. Presentations were shared on the concepts of career counselling and the methods of testing to know one’s own interests and skills, to select the best suitable career amongst the varied options available.
An open discussion with the participants to clarify their doubts and queries on their future career was also organized. With the aim of widening the horizon of educated youth to decide their future careers, the resource persons helped the participants acquaint them with numerous career options to break the age old concept of only becoming an engineer or a doctor.
