Barwaha, Madhya Pradesh: Women from 10 villages in Barwaha for the first time visited their counterparts engaged in income generation activities in another district. These women, who are part of HDFC Bank supported CSR project ‘Enabling Access to Social and Economic Resources (EASE) Program,’ met Nimad Mahila Gram Udyog Livelihood Group in Badwani district.
The Nimad group of women are known for their spices brand under the name Grih Udyog Nimad Brand’ which produces and sell turmeric and red chili powder.
The Nimad group also prepares and sells organic manure at the cost of Rs. 600 per quintal. It functions with proper administrative process and structure. The Nimad group shared that initially they had to face opposition from their families and community however they persisted with their efforts.
For the women of Barwaha it was a great learning experience in terms of understanding the role of a women’s collective and the management of income generation activities.
