Community Based Disaster Risk Reduction Initiatives in the Brahmaputra Basin of Assam

 

This program focused on restoring the community structures such as the village link roads. It also addressed the climate change adaptation and development of a model farm on the sand casted area to provide the food security to the flood affected villages.

Key Intervention Areas:
The interventions were aimed at –
• Enhancing village communities’ local capacities for prevention and mitigation of flood disaster
• Integrating climate change adaptation and livelihood in 25 villages to provide better food security
• Reducing multi-hazard vulnerabilities of 25 villages by implying convergence approaches of advocacy for disaster risk reduction and climate adaptation.
