24 September 2013 Urban Poverty
Ghettoization of the urban poor and rampant evictions across the country brought together more than 50 housing rights activists representing 32 organisations from 19 states at the three-day strategy meeting of the National Forum for Housing Rights (NFHR). The meeting was held at Bengaluru, from 11th to 13th September, 2013.
24 September 2013 Sustainable Livelihood
A meeting on the National Food Security Bill was held on 15th September, 2013, at Ranchi Jharkhand. Mr. John Dreze, international sociologist and activist, who was one of the speakers during the occasion, shared that the biggest challenge is the lack of political commitment and to ensure this dialogues with political leaders need to be initiated. He further opined that there is lack of transparency in the socio – economic caste census and the data need to be verified. Mr. John Dreze, also shared that there should be a criteria adopted by the Gramsabha for the identification of beneficiaries.

The youth shared that the knowledge on management skills will help to create an environment of motivation and trust within the youth group members, their working relation will be strengthened and will help in building a supportive team culture. The participants further shared that they will now be able to design advocacy strategies in accordance to the need and priorities of the community.

A meeting was organised to discuss about the probable impact of the National Food Security Bill, 2013, in the state of Jharkhand on 7th September, 2013. Participants from 25 NGOs across the state attended the meeting.

12 September 2013 Gender Programmes
During the programme, the women shared their understanding that the International Literacy Day is celebrated to spread the awareness on Adult Literacy and Education. They further spoke about the significant changes brought about in their lives post attending the functional literacy classes, sessions on Legal Literacy and knowledge on improved agricultural techniques.

Indo – Global Social Service Society in collaboration with National Institute of Mental Health & Neurosciences (NIMAHNS), Bangalore organised a training programme on “Mental Health, Illness and Counseling Skills” from 27th - 29th August 2013.
5 September 2013 Disaster Risk Reduction
IGSSS Eastern Office has been put on high alert for emergency response to the flood affected areas of Bihar. The IGSSS partners in Bihar have also been alerted and coordination with Inter Agency Group - Bihar has begun. An Emergency Response Team is being formed for rapid assessment in the flood affected areas based on the data and reports from the partners and NGO networks. On the basis of rapid assessment IGSSS will plan and initiate its specific emergency response.
